The wheels need to go and the a-pillar gauges need to go, but it looks to be in pretty decent knick. He wants $14k, though.

Hard one for me. It's relatively clean, and these are so, so hard to find not ragged to bits and pieces by now, but it's still a good chunk of coin for one.

————————————————————————————————————————————————

I think I might rather have this completely stock, 69k mile, extremely clean looking version instead, though. Not sure where the reserve is at (bidding at $7900 currently), but this is the Z32 I want.

Is this really the stock interior? Why does it look like it was reupholstered by the lady's man character from SNL?

I would say CP, but mostly because I think that is crazy for a car that old. But then again, I do not know much about these cars. Sexy as it is, $14k is a bit of cheddar.

$1000 and a trip to autozone can change that real fast .

But seriously, NP all the way.

The steering wheel cover is obviously a travesty, but I believe the rest of that (inlucding the carpet on the lower half of the dash) is indeed stock. I'm not the foremost authority on these, though.

The lower half of the dash is actually where I was talking about. I was kinja'd.

Figured as much. I believe I've seen that before on these, but I'm not 100% certain on that.

You do know that prices don't always go down as a car gets older, right? They form a curve:

Kinja'd!!!

That being said, $14k is perfectly reasonable for quite a few cars this old, provided they have the mechanical capabilities (I bet this car, even at this age, will run better than some brand-new crapboxes) to back the price up.

The 300ZX TT was the first car out of Japan to break the 'Gentleman's agreement' of limited engines to 276HP. It had 300HP stock. They're getting exceedingly rare to find unabused and stock, and not many Twin Turbo 2 seaters are left.

Additionally, it was the first car ever designed completely by computer, utilizing a Cray supercomputer at Nissan to prototype it. It had a top speed an excess of 165 mph, and was known to touch 186+ mph with the right modifications, and the aero is good up to 200mph. It had one of the lowest drag coefficients also, though not as low as its much narrower predecessor.

It featured 4 wheel steering (though often removed by the owners, since the weight savings were worth it) electronically controlled differentials, computer adjustable suspension, and completely electronic fuel injection and engine mapping. This was all back in 1989 when it first came out! There are brand-new sports cars now that don't even have close to that technology.

Adjusted for inflation, they sold for over $50,000 in today's money. To put that in perspective, that's the same cost as a 2011 Shelby GT500, which had a lower top speed and was way worse at handling.

So yeah. 14k is still a reasonable price for such a rare, clean example of an extremely impressive car, regardless of its age.

TL:DR (except for the first sentence)

But I understand that age does not always equal depreciation. But that is why I added "...I do not know much about these cars."

Should have read the rest of the post! It was a whole bunch of history about the 300ZX so that you can now know more about the cars, and helps explain why its price may be so high.

Don't worry, I'm not calling you out on anything, just giving you some sweet facts about one of the best Japanese cars ever built. It really is a fascinating car with an awesome history, and totally deserves the premium price it carries.

Even in the 90s, that was a car that I thought looks great on the outside, and horrible on the inside.

I had an Anniversary model 300zx Turbo...think it was an 84..digital dash..3 way shocks..t-roofs etc...great car...but even with the spoilers at about 120mph it got really light on the front..only car that ever really scared me .( I sold it before I could kill myself) Contrast that with an 87 Supra Turbo Targa that I ran all the way up to 150mph it was rock steady and confidence inspiring..(Bad luck to the RCMP officers behind me..they could never get close enough to me even though they could see me 5 miles ahead of them down the road..I made it to the border at Sweetgrass and crossed over only to watch them steam up 25 minutes later....and look knowingly in my direction...ah the days of youth

No, I read it after. Just didn't read it right off because I understand why all cars do not drop in price dramatically when they age.

But after reading that, I understand why the guy is asking what he is asking. Just not sure I would pay for it (two totally different things, I know). Like, for instance, I LOVE Mitsubishis (older ones, not the crap out now). And I LOVE 3kGT/GTOs. But they are still being listed for $10k+, and I think that is too much. But again, that is just me. I'm a tight wad! HAHA! If I had exuberant amounts of expendable income (read: no wife & kids), I would not have an issue with dropping $14k on this car. I do like them, just did not know a lot about them.

And I did not think you were calling me out. No worries. Just helping spread knowledge. That's the good thing about ignorance, it can be corrected!

I had the chance to buy an 84 Anniversary Edition for $3000 back when I was 17, but the seller balked and the deal never went through. They are addicting, dangerous cars. I ended up getting an SN95 Mustang instead, which was a poor decision by comparison.

Apparently, yeah... I just pulled this picture at random from google, and it seems to have the same kind of upholstery. Maybe there's some lighting effects at play on the ad pictures, though.

Mine was a deep blue metallic flake that looked black at night with tan leather...the gearbox in Japanese cars are so good..the Supra, Prelude and the 300 were always a thing of beauty to drive. T Roof's were pretty sweet too. I don't miss that car though..not like I miss my 87 Corvette. I will have another Corvette with any luck 92 with an LT1 or something later that I can Turbo. For all the complaining people do about the seats in a Corvette..I am 6 foot 4 and I loved the seats in my 87 it felt like you were putting the car on...not at all like you were sitting in it. Great car to drive on the highways of Alberta..not fast compared to modern cars...an AMG ML320 humiliated me..on Highway 2 one afternoon coming up from Calgary..but overall it was a great car 242,000km's and sweet and true as a nut.

The first one isnt that bad, the wheels are okay. If the second car is the same as the first one but stock, well it seems the second one is the one to go for. Both are really clean though.

One of my sisters friends had a 300ZX TT in that, what is it, midnight purple? color. Being that this was back in the 90's, it had neon in the footwells and it had a car phone! I remember it got wrecked, he rebuilt it then he sold it, and I saw it in town like 3 years later. Never saw it after that.

Thats my 300zx story

To confirm Bob Loblaw's & BlazingAce's comments, it is indeed upholstered from the factory, but in reality isn't as bright as the camera flash is making it look like in both the pic above and mine here:

Kinja'd!!!

I'm certain that they were all upholstered, but I'm not 100% sure how many different types there were. There was likely leather, alcantara, and different fabrics available in different trims, years, and markets.

Same fabric, without the camera's flash:

Alcantara or suede?:

Should have clarified... automatic V6 Mustang. And while I thought it looked good (1998) most people consider it the ugliest year of Mustang. It was fun, but slower than a new Corolla.
